  • CoverMT.org – local help for making sense of your coverage options and enrolling in private or public insurance. Help may be available through chat, phone, video conference, or in-person.  

    Healthcare.gov – apply for and enroll in private or public health insurance plans, including Montana Medicaid and Healthy Montana Kids. The only place to take advantage of new Advanced Premium Tax Credit to help pay for your health insurance. 

    Apply.mt.gov – online portal to sign up for health insurance (including Montana Medicaid, Medicaid Expansion, Healthy Montana Kids, and Plan First) and other public assistance in Montana.  

    Plan First – Plan First is a special Medicaid program for Montana residents who are females between 19-44 years of age, and who can become pregnant but are not currently pregnant. Income limits are higher than for regular Medicaid or Medicaid Expansion, and you can use Plan First to supplement your private insurance. Plan First covers a limited scope of sexual and reproductive healthcare services. 

  • SNAP – Financial assistance for food for income-eligible persons 

    TANF – short-term cash assistance for income-eligible families with children or people who are pregnant  

    WIC – financial assistance for food, plus nutrition education and breastfeeding support, for pregnant people, caregivers, and children up to 5 years old. Income limits apply. 

    Energy, Water, and Weatherization Assistance – financial assistance for energy and water bills, and to improve energy efficiency of homes for income-eligible households.  

    Food Pantries and Free Meals – a state-wide listing of food pantries, meal programs, and related resources to prevent hunger and overcome challenges to accessing food. 

    Housing Assistance – listing of housing authorities and organizations around the state that assist people in finding affordable housing.  

  • Montana Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Victim Service Programs – searchable listing of community-based organizations that provide support and assistance to people who have experienced domestic violence and/or sexual assault. 

    StrongHearts Native Helpline – for Native Americans and Alaska Natives, a 24/7 safe confidential and anonymous domestic, dating, and sexual violence helpline, offering culturally-appropriate support and advocacy. 

    National Domestic Violence Hotline – information, resources, and support for people who have experienced domestic violence. 24/7 support is available by phone, text, or online chat. 

    National Sexual Assault Hotline – information, resources, and support for people who have experienced sexual violence. 24/7 support is available by phone and online chat. 

    1 in 6 – resources for males who have been sexually abused or assaulted 

    Trans Lifeline – grassroots hotline and microgrants nonprofit offering direct emotional and financial support to trans people in crisis. For the trans community, by the trans community. 

  • County-Specific Mental Health Resource Guides – search by your county for a listing of available resources to help support your mental health. Produced by the National Alliance for Mental Illness. 

    Montana Mental Health Resource List – A comprehensive listing of statewide resources for mental health resources and rights. Produced by Disability Rights Montana. 

    National Suicide Prevention Hotline – 24/7 free confidential support for people in distress 

    Veterans Crisis Hotline – 24/7 free confidential crisis support for Veterans and their loved ones. Available by phone, text, or chat. 

    The Trevor Project – for LGBTQ+ young people, information, support, and a 24/7 free confidential crisis line available by phone, text, or chat. 

    National Maternal Mental Health Hotline – for pregnant and new moms, a 24/7 free confidential crisis line is available by phone.  

    Racial Equity Support Line – support for those who are feeling emotional impacts of racist violence and microaggressions, as well as emotional impacts of immigration struggles and other cross-cultural issues. Available by phone on weekdays from 9a-6p MT.

    Montana Human Rights Network - Harassment Reporting - report instances of discrimination, harassment and violence to MHRN. Part of MHRN’s mission is to track and combat hate group activity within Montana.

  • Treatment Providers in Montana - Search for treatment providers across the state and information about how to get into treatment-.

    National Helpline - (1-800-662-4375) A free, confidential, 24/7 treatment referral and information service for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders.

    Partnership to End Addiction - Resources and supports for parent or guardians of teens and young adults.

    Alcoholics Anonymous - free fellowship of alcoholics dedicated to abstinence-based recovery from alcoholism through its spiritually-inclined Twelve Step program.

    Narcotics Anonymous - free fellowship of recovering addicts (drugs or alcohol) dedicated to abstinence-based recovery through its spiritually-inclined Twelve Step program.

    Al-Anon and Alateen - support groups and resources for people whose lives have been affected by another person’s drinking.

  • Montana Disability and Health Program – develops and implements services and programs designed to improve health for Montanans with disabilities.   

    Montana Council on Developmental Disabilities - concentrates on issues related to self-determination, education, employment, transportation, housing, recreation, health care, community inclusion, and the overall quality of life of people with developmental disabilities 

    MonTech – provides assistive technologies and adaptive equipment along with training and supports to improve the quality of life for Montanans with disabilities. 

    Disability Rights Montana – promoting the rights of individuals with disabilities through legal representation, information and referrals, self-advocacy training, raising public awareness, and more. 

    Montana Legal Service Association – provides civil (non-criminal) legal services to low-income Montanans including a variety of supports pertinent to people with disabilities such as enrollment with Social Security Income (SSI) and disability benefits (SSDI). Also operates the self-help law website, MontanaLawHelp.org.  

  • Montana Family Center – promotes wellness and well-being of families throughout Montana with a focus on nontraditional families. Also hosts a statewide LGBTQAI+ resource list

    Open to All – a listing of local Montana businesses working to create fair and inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ people. This service is provided by the Pride Foundation

    Montana Gender Alliance – help with legalizing name changes and gender markers, plus support groups for trans, nonbinary, Two-Spirit folks and parents. Contact sreagor@bridgercare.org for more information and links to support group meetings.

    Montana Two Spirit Society – advocates and educates the public about Two Spirit issues, histories, and traditions. Hosts Two Spirit gatherings, offers networking opportunities and collaborates with other organizations around the state.
